Question RTX 4080 pci cable question

I just built a new pc and I was wondering how many pci cables should I use to power the rtx 4080? On my old pc I used the same 4080 and I was using 3 individual pci cables to plug into the adapter that came with the 4080. Now I’m using just two, is that fine or should I use 3 individual cables?

If you have a PSU that uses Type 4 modular cables, Corsair offers 12VHPwr cables for those power supplies. To check if you have a Type 4 modular power supply, see https://web.archive.org/web/20230220210630/https://www.corsair.com/us/en/psu-cable-compatibility

Otherwise, if cables have two 8-pin PCIe connectors, it should handle 300W just fine. So using two to power the 4080 shouldn't be a problem.
