News RTX 50 series GPUs selling below market price at Walmart returns aisle, multiple customers score great deals

return? make sure to open it in store to make sure it is rtx 50 series
Definitely this. I would hate to get home and find a box-o-rocks.

However, open box items fall under the same, standard return policy as regular retail items. Not sure where Tom's got that you have to deal with the manufacturer(?)

You've got 30 days (I think electronics is 30). Take it home and test it out. Keep the box and receipt. If it's missing ROPs, or you just want something different, return it. Great deal if you can find it and, as always, verify the return policy before buying!

Same happened to me with the RTX 4080 a month after it was released. Went to Microcenter, found one discounted 10% because of a return. The rep in the PC parts department explained the customer did not have the right power requirements/cable configuration and returned it. I still have it to this day and it works beautifully.

Just a heads up. Amazon has been getting regular supplies of the latest Nvidia and AMD GPU's. They are regularly selling them at mfg MSRP. If you go to the AIB partners website 9/10 it matches Amazon's sale price.

I have also seen base RTX 5080/5090's go for actual MSRP. Yesterday I picked up an RTX 5080 MSI Ventus OC at MSRP. The problem is you have to be really fast and ready to pounce. The other thing is that right now the best deals and availability is for Prime customers. I started a Business Prime 30 day trial.

Is this a thing at all Walmarts or just specific regions? I can't ever remember seeing PC parts for sale at Walmarts in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Maybe I hadn't gone to the right stores though.

As someone who used to work for Walmart. The returns for such items will be store specific. You can only get them from Walmart via their website. Those GPU's will probably go behind a glass case and yes, you can sometimes get killer deals at one of their stores.

One time I grabbed a fully loaded HP Envy with a MSRP of over a $1000. I bought it for $200 as it was on display. No box but the laptop was in mint condition.

The article mentions that it's people who bought online but returned the card at their local store (you can do that with Walmart). So the store just put on sale in their return section. So if nobody ever walked in to your local store to return a PC part you won't see any.

Yes it's a wonderful card. If Nvidia priced it better at launch it would have likely been their biggest hit ever. But they got greedy and now everybody hates this card despite being one of the bests ever made. I personally never regretted the 1300$ I spent on my MSI 4080 Gaming X Trio. Those two years have been among my best video gaming years ever, and it's still running great.

Speaking about below MSRP prices, Amazon is getting hammered with scammers. Why you can buy a RTX 5080 for the low, low price of $729 or a RTX 5090 for $1799 🥳

This same seller who is not even in the US is flooding Amazon with multiple listings. To make matters worse there's NO way to report this seller until Amazon boots them off for suspicious listings, only for them to open another account under a different name and address to try again.

Amazon has turned into ScamAzon.

Have you used something to alert you? Every time I check they are out of stock/scalper prices.

No, cause i'm retired and as the benefits of being an oldfart I have lots of time of my hands. I scour Amazon daily until my 30 day trial is over in a couple of days. I have seen them hit only once and they were gone almost instantly because there are hundreds if not thousands of people like me waiting to pounce.

I truly believe if you give it another 5-6 months and are patient, actual MSRP will be a normal thing. Right now you are having to deal with resellers and the FOMO people. I however am in the "I need those parts to build my new gaming rig".

The last thing to say is that people's view of MSRP is somewhat skewed. If someone wants a vanilla GPU 9070XT, RTX 5080, 5090, then those MSRP's will be different than the OC'd or special version.

Yesterday I ordered the ASUS TUF Gaming OC'd for $1484.99 and that is the same price ASUS lists on their website. Overclocked cards will always cost more just like when EVGA was in the business. Their specialty cards always cost you more. I say that because reviews on Amazon don't realize that an ASUS TUF 5080 is always going to have a higher MSRP than a vanilla RTX 5080.
