Hello,

After reading a lot, I still don’t know what to do. I sold my old GPU a while back and need a new one. I want to game in 4K with RT on an AW255QF with a Ryzen 9 7950X3D, T-Force Vulcan 32GB 6000MHz, Samsung 980 Pro, and a 1k PSU. I wanted a 5080, but here in Canada, the only one I could get would be $3K, and that is way too much. So now I can get, for about the same price, an MSI RTX 5070 Ti Ventus X3 OC, the Asus TUF Gaming 5070 Ti, or the Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX. For about $500-600 less, I can get the 9070 XT, but will that be enough to game in 4K with RT? I know there was an article here saying that you can overclock the 7900 XTX to 5080 performance, but can't you just do the same with a 5070 Ti? I tested an RX 7900 XTX with my monitor and couldn't seem to make adaptive/free sync work, so maybe Nvidia is the way to go. There are so many factors, lol.

So is going with AMD over Nvidia that much of an issue because I lose G-Sync and can’t have FreeSync work?
If I go with AMD, in many benchmarks on Game Nexus, the 7900 XTX is better than the 9070 XT, but then I won’t be able to use FSR 4.
If going with Nvidia is that much better because of G-Sync, is it safe to get a 5070 Ti? I know some cards have issues with power connection.

Thanks for the help!

If you're able to get the RX 9070 XT at or near MSRP then go for it, it's better than the RTX5070/RTX5070Ti but if it's hard finding one in stock or at MSRP, then you can just jump on the RX 7900 XT.

Did you get this model for the Alienware right?

and a 1k PSU.
Make and model of the unit and it's age?

Did you use DDU after you'd swapped the GPU over to the 7900XT?

Sorry the screen model is AW3225QF from Alienware
PSU is a Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 1000w about 4 years old I think.
Yes I did use DDU in safe mode.
Also you think the 9070 is better then the 7900 xtx and the 5070ti?
Thank you

Well all 9070 xt here are now at 1200$ Cad and I just saw an MSI RTX 5070 Ti 16G Vanguard SOC Launch Edition for the same price so I ordered that one. Once I get it Ill do many test to see if I keep it. I have a friend whos gonna order a 9070 XT so Ill be able to compare.

The 9070 xt is same perfomance with 7900 xtx ,see youtube and see 3dmark timespy graphic score .the 9070 xt has less vram compare to 7900 xtx but i think 9070 xt is has better perfomance in RT.depending on a situation when we use clear logic the 9070 xt is great choice because 16gb vram i think its enough for games.

That is wrong. The 9070 XT is about 2% slower than a 5070 ti and has less mature features, however, it is much cheaper. I can understand if that was what you meant by saying it is "better," otherwise that is just factually incorrect.

To the OP, the 9070 XT has more mature features than the 7900 XTX with a bit less raster performance and 8gb less VRAM. The best option for what you want would probably be the 5070 ti, however, I would strongly consider the 9070 XT because its so close in raster performance compared to the 5070 ti, however, the 5070 ti's DLSS is a bit better among other features including RT performance.

I think you made the right choice considering prices at the time of purchase. 5070 ti is just better at the same price compared to the 9070 XT. I would disqualify the 7900 XTX just because both of the other cards have more mature features and RT performance even though it has a bit better raster performance. If all three cards were the same price the 5070 ti is the obvious choice to me.

Hey the 9070 xt is more faster than 5070 ti i agreed.it has more power connector and the graphic perfomance is different

I would say any of those are viable options. The 5070ti is the one you want for ray tracing, upscaling etc. 9070xt is slightly behind it.

The 7900xtx is kind of like an old muscle car. Not as strong with frame generation or upscaling, though there are rumors fsr4 may get to the 7000 series. But in raw power the 7900xtx is a beast of a card. Though the other 2 are close but not quite as much vram.

Whichever you can actually find is likely a good card.

To add to that, any of those for a relatively reasonable price you can find, especially near msrp, jump on it because the way the market is now who knows how long before you get another chance.

I also wouldn’t turn my nose up at a reasonably priced 9070 non xt or perhaps even a 7900 xt or a 4070 ti super or 4080.
