Hello,

Can anyone tell me how I can execute a spyware program before Window's loads its operating system. I know I can run in safe mode, but I would like to set up a process without having to do that.

I have spyware on my PC and I am trying to remove it. I am not trying to sabotage it. I was able to run the system successfully in safemode, but I do not want to run that way all the time.

Hi Hawkeye,

I am not trying to get spyware onto the machine, I am trying to run an anti-spyware program to remove the spyware. Sorry I did not word that correctly before. When I first run the anti-spyware program, some spyware cannot be removed because it is already in memory.

Start your computer in safe mode ( F8 at boot ). Run Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy and your anti virus program while in safe mode. If that does not fix it then you will probably have to reinstall Windows.

( I do not enable the 2 resident protections offered by Spybot as I find them intrusive. Just do not check the boxes during install. )

Hi amort, I know I can go into safemode, I did not want to do that everytime I ran Spybot though. I was hoping to run Spybot before Windows actually loads.

The only reason to even run it in safe mode is if you are infected with something and know it is not being removed running it in normal mode. Malwarebytes and Spybot will clean most computers when combined with a good antivirus program.

I have used Avira for years now and never had a problem. Avast, Microsoft Security Essentials and AVG are also all good free solutions.

You can not run these programs before Windows loads as far as I know although the antivirus program may check memory as Windows is loading.

I am looking for the answer as well. Computer is seriously infected.
Malwarebytes will run and eliminate things in Safe mode.
Once booted in normal mode, the malware returns and will not allow ANY software to run. Immeadiately shuts the opening software.
Superantispyware and Malwarebytes will not allow you to load and scan upon start up without purchasing the software. :??:
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shannon

Reinstall Windows.

I would. If Malwarebytes in safe mode don't kill it you are screwed. Try Spybot Search and Destroy too. Reinstalling Windows although a pain will save you hours of frustration.

There are many ways to boot off a Live CD or USB thumb drive and run an AV scan without the WinOS being booted.
Try AVG Rescue CD. It's a free download and you can burn the image to a CD or an USB thumb drive, boot to a utility program that will let you run an AVG without the malware infection being able to 'protect' itself.
Several other Anti-Virus companies offer similar options.

Thank you very much for all of your replies, I will connect with her hopefully this weekend (She is in Georgia and I - California) and I WILL come back and let you know of our success and which method killed the nasty little buggers. 😀

Well it is gone 😀 Back to safe mode & ran Rkill to terminate active malware. Ran scan with malwarebytes - superantispyware and finished off with Spybot S&D. Changed the lan settings from proxy to auto detect & blasted corrupt hosts file, replaced with Spybot S&D hosts file.

Downloaded and installed Avast as McAfee was completely corrupted..... :bounce: 😀 :sol: 😗 All is well...

Thanks again for the input...
