Question Running a 7900XTX AND a 4080 Super in the same system.

Due to circumstances I would not go much detail into, I ended up with a 7900XTX. It is a Sapphire Nitro+. I already have a system built for my 4080 Super, but now I also have this another behemoth of a card.

I was wondering I can run both these GPU's not at the same time, but within the same system. The 4080 super is a raster monster but Nvidia gimped its VRAM, which does become an issue in some games I noticed previously. Now I have an equally Raster monster with 24gigs of VRAM.

I am thinking of Installing the 7900XTX in my other PCIE-16 slot, and then installing all the necessary drivers. When I am playing a game that requires more than 16gigs of VRAM, I would switch to the 7900XTX. When I need Ray Tracing or DLSS, I would opt for 4080 Super. I am not sure if Drivers conflict will be an issue on Win 11.

Any Idea how would that work?

Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D
Motherboard: MSI MAG x670e Tomahawk
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 64GB DDR5 6000MT/s
PSU: Corsair HX1200i
Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL Tower

Since I would only use ONE GPU at a time, and my case is a Full Tower, I don't suppose Power or Real Estate will be an issue.

Another option is building a whole new computer around the 7900XTX for my niece, who is only 5 years old right now.

Looking for your input, slot the GPU in my system and use it or build another computer for my niece?

I would sell both GPU's and settle for the single most powerful GPU your wallet can afford you. You're also going to need a much higher wattage PSU, so in the long run you're best off with a single higher end GPU.
Selling the 4080 Super is an option but not the 7900XTX, it was gifted to me and holds emotional value. I can either use it, have my family member use it or just hold on to it.

Mixing Geforce and Radeon for games would not work well.
Some games save Nvidia shader profiles in their cache. That needs to be cleared, if not, they can screw with Radeon drivers.
Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU) doesn't work for this, reinstalling game clears cache.

I don't think you want to keep having to do that if a game gives you trouble... so yeah, decide between who gets the 4080, and who gets the 7900XTX.
