Hi, I've got a quick question about the Dell U2711 monitor - we want to run two of them at the full resolution of 2560x1440 and I've been finding conflicting information about the cable that is needed to run at this resolution. Everywhere I've looked said that you need to use a dual link DVI cable, but does it matter if the video card port is dual link DVI-I or dual link DVI-D? Will both of those port types work for full resolution or only one of them?

MY U2711 resolution problem solved.

The Dell setup says choose to use either VGA or DVI

It is supplied with DVI cable marked Dual and with correct pins.
Would not provide max res on any DVI port despite new drivers.
Monitor / supplied dual cable would happily run at max res on an aging card and XP.

Multiple forums suggested dud ASUS cards or no windows 7/8 support or buy a better cable but one forum suggested the monitor was native in Displayport

Switched to the supplied displayport cable and all is fine (so far)
