I just bought a Dell XPS 8910 a few weeks ago.

GPU - Nvidia GeForce 1070 SC, EVGA Supernova 850 power supply.
32 GB ddr4 ram

At idle I'm around 40-45 c. During gaming I'm anywhere between 64-79. I've looked into changing the CPU fan but with the power supply folding over right on the CPU I'm not sure what aftermarket choices I have. Is it possible to use all the components and move it to a better case where the power supply didn't sit on the CPU. I was looking at this case for better airflow. Also then adding a better CPU fan like the Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212. Any ideas of this is plausible?

I've tried replacing the stock cooler with a Intel cooler using artic silver 5 thermal compound and it still seems to run hot. I believe this is because the power supply folding over the CPU fan and is less than a half inch above it.

I actually bought one today. I should get it on Friday and hopefully it will fix all of my issues.

did you ever get to moving into the new case? I'm in the same boat, where my CPU @ idle is okay, but with just my GPU (gigabyte 1080 G1 gaming) under load my CPU goes up to 50-60C even at 0% load itself, lol. the case design is terrible, not sure if i should grab a cooler, new z170 MB and PSU and just use the ram cpu and gpu in the new case.. its really frustrating as besides the terrible thermals, its a fast little machine.

I ended up returning the computer because it didn't make sense moving the components to a new PC when I could just build one. I did try a different cooler and power supply but neither helped. The case design is a major flaw.
