Hello, I have the chance to grab a 60gb SSD for £10. It is a Kingston 60GB 2.5" SSDNow V300 SATA III but the problem is my PC is very old (due an upgrade soon :)))) and I only have Sata 2 ports. Motherboard is MSI 2A9C and I bought this computer from a computer shop ages ago... I know, i messed up.

My question is then could I use that SSD and would it really yield any positives considering its on SATA 2, would it be faster than a HDD still if both are plugged in to SATA 2 and is it worth it? I know its used but would it still be worth the investment. It has been totally wiped.

Solution
1. Yes it will be faster. A little bit slower than if on a SATA III port, but it will indeed be faster than an HDD.

2. I hope you're not planning on using this for the OS drive. 60GB is too small.
(yes, you can. But you'll be continually managing space on it.)
