I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and I keep getting the Runtime error
40006 Wrong protocol or connection state for the requested transaction or
request. . Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Site
Server 2.0 Standard Edition and will not email me the link nor the code to
obtain the fix. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully
regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this
specific problem. Which I am severely impacted by this. The server I'm using
came with this computer when I bought it so Microsoft should send me the fix
because I dont have time to wait for the next Microsoft Site Server 2.0
service pack. Do anyone know to resolve this issue so I can correct the
problem I'm having ? Your Kindndness would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

What article are you referring to? The only one I find about a hotfix for a
run time error 40006 is for Visual Studios, and those have Service Packs
available to resolve the problem. The only server application to come with
WindowsXP is Internet Information Services (IIS).

Are you running Site Server 2.0? I'm not sure that it will run properly
under WinXP Home, or even Pro for that matter.

What were you told when you called for the hotfix?

(quoting fixed)

Al, you're going to need to tell us the name and version of the program
so we can give you accurate help. XP Home Edition does not come with a
web server. XP Home does not come preinstalled with Site Server. If you
bought the computer used with Site Server already on it, then contact
whoever sold you the computer.

If you are trying to run your own webserver on a consumer operating
system (non-server os), then upgrade to XP Pro and install IIS.
Otherwise, you can see if a non-MS webserver application like Apache
will work.

If neither Rick nor I addressed your question, then please post back
with full and accurate details of exactly what you are trying to do and
your end goals.
