You should also update your antivirus program and run a system scan. You
might get a second opinion from an online scan at Kapersky, Trend Micro, RAV
or Panda. See:

A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, toolbars,
security,
anti-virus, etc. Look at any program that might be interfering with Internet
Explorer or Windows Explorer.You may have to reinstall, or not reinstall, a
program.
You don't identify the Operating System, but disabling non-essential
programs from MSCONFIG> Startup (followed by a restart) may identify the
problem program.
