Rust on plugs.

How do I remove rust from my laptop adapter? There is blackish rust on the silver part of the adapter and I'm not sure if it can harm the laptop.
Any remedies?

Can you take a picture and upload to a pic hosting site like www.imgur.com and post here so we can better see what you're talking about?

I can't right now. But do you know the silver part of the plug you insert into the wall socket? There are black rusty parts on it. It works but it's kinda rusty.

The flat blades of most electrical plugs are relatively easy to clean. I use a small strip of abrasive emery cloth and wrap it around the end of a screwdriver with a straight blade. Scrub the flat sides of each blade with that. Or, use an emery board sold in cosmetics departments for smoothing your fingernails.
