Please keep it to 1 thread
i bought a cx 450 fully modular corsair PSU, I have a rx 570 but what I dont have is a PCI-E cable (too connect too the rx 570) which is gonna come in the next few weeks.

(gpu i had before all this was a gt 1030)

so i bought the cx 450, but it in and connected everything. when i use my (original) gt 1030, everything works fine and there is signal.

but when I put in a rx 460, no signal on the screen? its fan is spinning

specs:
i5-2400
gt 1030 (cause the pc works with this gpu)
8gb ram
optiplex 390
0m5dcd board
cx450 psu

Graphics cards which require PCIe power cable(s) won't work without them (only the fan(s) will work 'cos they get power from the PCIe slot).

You'll have to wait till PCIe cable arrives before you can use your RX 570.
I am talking about my "RX 460" which doesnt need external power. The screen is no signal with that.

Correct. I dont know why. I've ordered some though so it is not a problem.
Was it a brand new PSU model , sealed in a box/packaging ? I find it hard to believe a new PSU will come with some missing cables as well.

Anyways, never mind all that. You have a pretty old system from Dell. Do you have the latest BIOS installed ? What's the last BIOS date on the "optiplex 390" ?

Are you booting in legacy or UEFI mode ?

I am not really smart with PC'S, but I do know my bios, but I do not know if it is the latest bios.

My bios: Dell Inc. A02, 9/29/2011

Also, I do not know what neither "legacy" or "UEFI" mode is. How can I check which way im booting from?

I think you need to update that motherboard's bios - if available.
If not, then the gpu is simply not compatible, because those Radeon RX gpus require UEFI bioses to run.
i have the latest bios on my motherboard - A14, 6/24/18
also ive seen multiple people use rx 570's with optiplex series? or rx 460's

What @Nigel Spike said.

Since you have the latest bios already... the kicker here is that you can't run Radeon RX graphics cards because your specific motherboard does not have a UEFI bios.
Stick to Nvidia.
well this is a rip, since I have already spent money on my rx 570 which probably wont work when it comes in. i guess ill just get a 1650 super or something.
