So I plan to upgrade my MSI RX 470 4gb to this used Zotac GTX 1080 on the marketplace for around 240$. I'm probably going to sell my current GPU and have been wondering if the hassle is worth it? Will I see improvements astronomically? Also, is my power supply good enough? My specs rn are:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600x
RAM:16GB 3200hmz
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS A320M-K
GPU: MSI RX 470 4gb
PSU: Corsair CX550m

Is the upgrade worth it if I'm only going to play in 1080p? Thank you for your responses!

Depends on the games you play.
Try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Unless the GTX1080 has a factory overclock, your psu is ok.

That’s problem 1080 been out for along time now buying it used from marketplace could been used for anything or faulty and such. Becareful when buying used gpu make sure it’s working before buying it
I don't know, the GPU seems legit and the owner is willing to give a stress test/benchmark on personal. But what do you think about the price? Is it reasonable for a used 1080?

I'm not planning to overclock the GPU, I think I'm good with the stock

there are a lot of second hand mining cards circulating in the market right now. The problem with mined cards is in the worst case scenario.. it can work fine today, pass all benchmarks, then be dead a few weeks later. I suggest save your money for a new gpu to have warranty protection for your money, instead of buy used. But if you really trust the seller, then go for it.

No, I checked the actual sold prices for a GTX1080 on ebay.
Looks like you can buy one for $160 or so.
Look up the card and filter on completed auctions to see what is being paid for similar cards.

If the seller has a good feedback and you pay with paypal, you will get some protection. If the selller asserts running condition and accepts refunds then you can return a non working unit and ebay will refund your payment.

The thing is, I'm from Philippines and the actual process of getting the card is in personal only. As far as I can see, that's the cheapest used GTX 1080 in my country right now. Is the effort of upgrading my current GPU to this used one is worth it? I'm going to sell my RX 470 for $90 and that makes the GTX 1080 $150

GPU prices in new in my country is beyond my budget, GTX 1660ti is literally $310. Welp, I'll just take my chances and hope for the best that it wouldn't fail next week, month, & year 😅. Wish me luck

GTX1080 will be a strong upgrade.
Some graphics card come with a factory overclock. They will usually require more than the normal
single 8 pin connector. If the card in question requires more, then your psu may be inadequate.

My only caveat is that your 1600x may not be able to take significant advantage of the upgrade.
Did you try my simple test?

I did and it's in between, it increases to the most part but decreases in some occasion

Unfortunately a gtx 1080 is pretty old, but still close to current mid range cards. The big thing is make sure you are satisfied with the stress tests. Also, as others said, what power supply do you have? You sure don't want to blow the new card up.

The other thing I'd suggest as well, you might begin saving and shopping for a new cpu. From what I'm seeing you have the AMD Ryzen 1600x? AMD opened up the support for many of the older motherboards. For example, I've got an AsRock AB350 Pro 4 that I bought in 2017 or 2018. They had a beta bios update release for it, and I'm now using a Ryzen 9 5900x in it. I know that cpu probably seems to be overkill for that board but it seems quite happy. For example a 3600 or 5600 would be a huge upgrade from the 1600x.

you are buying without any buyer protection since it's in person. This is a real gamble.
anyway, if you're really set on buying the used 1080. Best of luck then, I hope that gpu was not used for mining.

That's the second upgrade that I will be doing after the GPU, will 3600 last for more years?

My PSU is Corsair CX550m, the grey label one. I'm not so sure with this one but I'm not planning to overclock the GPU. Some says that it is enough but some also says I should get a 600W or more, is my current PSU enough?
