MSI Computer RX 470 DDR5 4GB CrossFire VR Ready FinFET DirectX 12 Graphics Card (Radeon RX 470 GAMING X 4G)

EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan), 3GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Cards 03G-P4-6160-KR

Both are $199
Both benchmark and in tomshardware hierarchy the GTX 1060 is above the Rx 470, any reason why they are same price, should I get the 1060 instead

The 4GB 480 is $230-$250 depending on model. There's likely a reason he's looking at $200 GPUs. Also, the 4GB *or* 8GB 480 is dead even with the 3GB 1060 in most games. In fact, in Doom under Open GL, the 1060 beats the 480 by 10%.

SR-71 is correct....the 1060 is a much better option for less money, even in alleged AMD-biased DX12 games like Ashes: http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=25086

^^Makes zero sense to go with the 470 over the 1060 at the same price point unless you are a die hard AMD fan. Even the 3.5GB GTX 970 beats the 4GB 470 in just about all games, with some games like BF4 showing the 970 20% faster than the 470 and even faster than the 480. And the 3GB GTX 1060 is 10% faster than the GTX 970!
