Rx 480 8gb reference or RX 480 4gb custom cooler

I have £200 and have found a brand new XFX RX 480 8gb reference with a backplate for £192 but I have found a Sapphire RX 480 4gb Nitro+ for £200. What do I pick. BTW I'm playing at 1440p and mainly play BF1 and ARK survival evolved

Definitely the 8gb for 1440p, if you can go for the gaming x or strix models. They have the better coolers and the reference cooler is not very good

You could get away with 4GB for Battlefield 1 @ 1440p, but ARK at 1440p will use more than 4GB. It completely depends if noise and higher temps bother you, I'd personally go for the XFX XXX RX 480 8GB, or see if you can get a second hand 8GB RX 480 with a custom cooler.

Reference cards draw air from inside the case, then blow GPU heat out the back. Usually results in more noise. Custom coolers work better yet blow the heat inside the case. So good airflow is recommended.
