I bought an used rx 480 8gb and when i started my pc with the gpu in it didnt post wahtsoever.
The fans spin at full speed but the sapphire logo taht should light up does not.I have a 500W psu which is enogh for the rx 480.
i put back my old gtx 1050 2gb and the system posted to bios.
i did not us DDU to delete my drivers but i dont see why the rx 480 does not post into the bios at least.
My system has: i7 2600
16 GB RAM DDR3
Thermaltake TR2 S 500W PSU
An OEM motherboard from ECS

I have to mention that i plugged the 8 pin power connector into the gpu.
Any help will be apreciated.

Was the used GPU in a perfect "working condition" before ? Did you check and verify the seller's reputation ? Also, avoid using those TR2 PSU models from Thermaltake. They are not recommended for high-end PCs.

It might be possible the seller gave you a dead GPU if bought from some unknown marketplace, or maybe the card was used for Mining before.

In any case, make sure to update your system's BIOS, if needed, and try clearing and resetting the CMOS/BIOS settings to default.

Also, if possible, try powering up the GPU by using some other HIGH quality PSU, if you can grab one. Those TR2 models should be avoided like a plague. it might also be a compatibility issue of the new GPU with the ECS board's chipset.

Hello and sorry for late reply. The guy selling the card has about 8 ratings of five star and 3 of 4 stars. The site is safe, i bought many parts from it before, as for the PSU i dont have any other one lying around, also i have already reseat the cmos battery. One strange thing is that when i start up the pc with the gtx 1050 in it the rgb on my mouse lights up right away, but when the rx 480 is in the mouse blinks 3 times and then no rgb shows up,clicking on it just makes it blink again like it did on startup.I have taken the card apart and repasted it, also noticed that the sapphire logo power connector was not connected to the gpu so i did that and now it does light up and works just fine, unfortunately still no display output. One thing that i could do now is take the card over to my friend and put it in his system altough he has a very sketchy "Inaza Oddysey" 600w full modular psu that he got for less than 50 bucks.

Also the seller gave me photos of the card working in a stress test with good temps and the card came with the orginal box with the driver dvd and manual

The card is a dual bios model so i tried booting the pc with the switch to both left and right and still nothing

Is your Sandy Bridge system Legacy BIOS or UEFI? All of the GCN cards (RX480 is GCN 4th gen) may not POST in some Legacy BIOS systems and which ones are really unpredictable as they seem to work just fine in most of them.

Sandy Bridge platforms seem to be the most problematic as many of them have some EFI features but are not fully UEFI compliant, so a GPU hybrid vBIOS may select the wrong pathway and you only get a black screen as the BIOS option ROM never loads.

It is legacy BIOS indeed, it has that blue backround with grey text and select option with keyboard only.
