Hi, I just assambled this PC yesterday:
CPU: Ryzen 1600
RAM: 2x4 3000mhz T-Force
Mother: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
PSU: TT BX1 RGB 650W
Chassis: Sentey X20
SSD 240GB Crucial
and the GPU: AsRock RX 580 8GB

Well, I was playing Borderlands 3 and checking everything using MSI Afterburner. Every component were normal. CPU temps were under 40°, usage under 20°.
But the GPU's temp was really, really high. I just opened the game and fans started to increase RPM to 3900 and temps where over 88-89° when I decided to close the game.
After that I removed the lateral acrylic of the chassis and try again. Temps were between 75 and 80°. And all of this with only 5 minutes playing. GPU usage is always at 100%.

I have one fan in the front and one in the rear. They aren't really god. But I wasn't expecting this. And I live in Mar del Plata, Argentina, it's a cold place. I neither had some heater on, my bedroom is very cold.

Here are the Radeon Settings:

Native resolution is 1360x768 but I'm playing in 1080i60Hz, Same in desktop. Maybe the GPU is having a really hard work rescalling? Anyway I tried 768p in Borderland (not in desktop) and temps were the same.

And If you have some extra time please check this other issue i'm having with this PC:

Thank you very much.

Thank you very much.
Polaris is a chip that typically goes really high in temps. However, there are also cases of badly mounted coolers - it wouldn't hurt to dismantle the cooler, clean it up, replace the thermal paste and pads and reassemble it with proper tension on the screws (you might want to find a few washers) to improve heat dissipation.

Yeah, but I don't know how to do that.

In CS GO temps are really good.

There's a lot of settings that should be manually adjusted for optimum graphics. There's huge amounts of havoc/physX being used to make clouds more 'cloudy' looking, or lighting affects but the difference between medium setting for that and ultra is tiny to your view. There's a very large strain on the gpu and it's usage for no good reason.
Borderlands 3 tweaks

There's others you can Google. But basically, just using preset settings isn't going to help you or get the game looking good, you need to adjust some of the settings yourself.

I've noticed something. When I place my hand under the GPUs fans, below one of them the air is hot. Below the other fan I feel the air colder.

Gpu fans blow air into the heatsink, so any air below the gpu isn't from the gpu. But that air has to go somewhere, and thats out the side facing you.

There's 2 areas on the pcb, the socket and vrm/vram that produce the most heat. If the gpu isn't under a high amount of usage, but is under high load, the VRM's area will get toasty, hitting 90°C +, whereas the gpu will be running lower. So it is possible for one side to run cooler than the other.

CS:GO is not graphically intensive. As for how to take apart and then reassemble a graphics card, there's a bunch of videos on the 'tube : it's a matter of getting a syringe of reasonable quality thermal paste, some new thermal pads, a pair of plastic gloves and a thin Phillips head screwdriver. Keep a few paper towels on hand, grab a few small boxes to keep the screws around, then get to work. It's not much more difficult than replacing the batteries in a child's toy.

Yes, I know, but i have one year warranty. I prefer that. I tried again and temps were lower but not that much. 76° in Borderland in some demanding areas. Still very hot, but I'll buy two good cooler fans with high airflow because the ones i have aren't of the best quality.
