Question Rx 6650xt Vs rtx 3060 modded skyrim

Hi all

Would and rtx 3060 or Rx 6650xt be better for a modded skyrim? High Resolution textures plus performance mods. How does infinity cache work and would the amd gpu be a problem for high texture packs? The 8gbs vram seems like an issue when modding.

In terms of GPU performance, yes, in terms of Vram the 3060 has more for the price.

The 6650XT is the faster GPU by around 12% or so.

Not by 12%, it is unlikely due to how little OC headroom these cards have, but you may gain up to around 5%, IMO not worth it.

Ok so let's say I save up a little more for a few months for the Rx 6700xt. Is the performance worth it and will the 550w PSU be enough to handle it?

What model power supply is it? And from which brand?
The 6700-XT is closer to RTX 3070 performance, around 10% slower in fact, a very good value card.

You won't have any issues powering it, at 1080p though the 2600 is too slow to push a 6700-XT to it's maximum capability.

I'd argue rather than play a guessing game here, profile how much VRAM you actually need with your current system. So get a baseline with no mods, then get something with the mods you want and see if there's an appreciably degraded performance different.

I used to have a gtx 1660 super and there were noticeable FPS drops. I think it was the lack of vram. Running with most mods was fine but one of the vegetation mods were quite heavy.
