RX480 Nitro post splash screen issue

Hi, my Sapphire AMD RX480 Nitro+ 8 GB GPU cannot get past the splash screen (i.e. it gives a black screen if I enter the BIOS).

I can enter BIOS fine when using the onboard graphics. I have tried disabling onboard graphics and made sure to use PCIe 1 slot (which uses PCIEX16_1 slot as the "initial display" [which the GPU is on]).

The GPU was able to display windows 10 fine.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD7 TH (rev 2)

Any ideas?

The manual says if you're using one card, install it in the PCIEX16_2 slot(page 10).

Your bios probably allows you to switch from the new mode to the older legacy or classic mode. Try installing the card using both. It looks like you need to enable 'fast boot' to get the option to change 'vga support' from one to the other.

See if there is any kind of 'secure boot' security enabled, if so, disable it.

What does "The GPU was able to display windows 10 fine." mean? Your post makes it sound like you can't get past the bios screen, then you say it booted up Windows fine.

Hi, thanks for the response.

Apologies, What I mean is I could enter windows 10 and play games etc, but couldn't get into the BIOS via the GPU.

Had it in PCIEX16_2 originally (same result), I was confused as the step for 'initial screen' omits the
PCIEX16_2 (see page 58)

Secure boot is disabled by default (its greyed-out), I was able to enable fast boot, with no success. Slash Screen Appears, but the Bios doesn't.

I tried both modes (i.e. legacy mode etc) -> same story
