Hi all, I posted here 2 months ago about replacing/Upgrading my graphics card and because if the advise i received about very high prices I decided to wait until the prices came down/stabilised.

However with the constant crashes I its become necessary for me to replace my card. I have decided to go for a budget card with similar performance as my R7260x and then (hopefully) I can upgrade in 6 months/1 yr when the prices have come down and give the replacement card to my son.

Specs
Motherboard Asus M5A78L
CPU FX8350
Ram 12gb
PSU 550w
Asus R7260x 2gb

Mainly play at the mo Eveonline, World of tanks and Minecraft

The card I am looking at is a Gigabyte RX550 2GB for £68, will this card give me similar performance as the R260x?

Many Thanks

An RX550 at ~70GBP seems like a bit of a waste to me.

Sure, GPU's are a bit higher than their MSRPs in some cases..... but if you're prepared to pay ~70 for a stopgap card, the slight inflation on prices is (generally) less than that stop-gap cost?

The MSRP on an RX580 (for example) is 220GBP. There's a few in the 235-265GBP range (so 15-45 quid markup).

A 1060 (6GB) is 240GBP. There's lots in the 255GBP range (15quid markup)

You'd actually end up spending less in the long run, just buying a better card now IMO.
