Ryzen 1600 unlocking 8 cores/16 threads

i hear a lot about enabling Ryzen extra cores, i read in forums that some people actually could do it by changing the CPU microcode, BIOS or something am not sure.

am not certain if i can put links of other forums here, but i would love to know how it works, i want to give it a try who knows.

I have heard that there were some who were lucky and got misbranded ryzen 8 core cpu's but had the IHS listed as 6 core versions. aside from those lucky few, I don't believe anyone has done this.

many times 6 core chips are sold as they are because there are physical defects on the core and even if you got the 8 core microcode installed, the chip would not work, and likely brick itself in the process. its risky to unlock cores oftentimes.

If you want 8 cores / 16 threads, buy a 8 core / 16 thread chip.

Don't believe everything you come across on the Internet. Even if this were true, the locked out portions would be for a reason (failed some QC check) and may not perform as intended.

As stated earlier, if you want more cores, buy more cores. Don't risk damaging your CPU over what is likely more urban legend than truth.

right, i got greedy ^^ thought i can get extra cores on my 1600
