Hello,

I am looking to buy the AMD Ryzen but am really confused with the options I have shortlisted. Ryzen 5 2400g or the Ryzen 1600.

I have -
an ASUS EX-A320M Gaming AMD Motherboard,
2x1 GB HDD,
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 3000Mhz x1
i-ball Marathon 500 watt PSU

I am looking at budget decent gaming.

Could you please recommend the better CPU of the two?

If you are going to fork out ~$150 for a Ryzen 2400G when you already intend to use discrete graphics with it, may as well dig a little deeper in your pockets for the 2600 which retails for only ~$10 more and is considerably faster. The 2400G makes very little sense if you aren't going to use its IGP for a significant while.

If you absolutely must choose between the 1600 or 2400G, then get the 1600. Two extra cores, 4X the L3 cache and x16 PCIe slot instead of only x8.

before upgrading to the 2xxx series, dont forget to update the BIOS
between 1600 and 2400g ofcourse its 1600, if youre not going to use the IGP from the 2400G why bother to buy it
instead you should go for 2600 if you save a bit more and getting a better upgrade
