So I recently started upgrading my computer and bought half of the components; cpu, motherboard and ram, everything else is the same. Sometimes when I press the power button it will not post and get stuck on the orange dram led, I have to press the reset button 5ish times for it to finally boot. My question is could this be because I only have the 24pin and the 8 pin cpu power connected? I have left the 4pin cpu unplugged as my older psu didn't have the extra connection. Or could this possibly be a more serious issue? I've already tried re-sitting components but hasn't solved the issue so far.

Yes, the 4-pin (12V2) cable must be connected for your system to work properly.

Ahh, okay. I saw a few people say that it would work with the 8pin and the 4pin is only needed for high overclocking. It's strange because I've been using it since just before christmas and never had any stability issus once I get it booted
