Ryzen 5 1500x upgrade question

Hey guys, I currently own a ryzen 5 1500x and am considering an upgrade. I have 16gb of ddr4 over clocked to 3000 and a GTX 1060 6gb.

Would upgrading to a ryzen 7 1700x give me a large performance upgrade for gaming?

Probably not for gaming. But maybe for other multi-threaded tasks.

Is there some aspect of the performance you're currently getting that you're not satisfied with? Just wondering what's prompting you to upgrade.

Also, 2nd gen Ryzen is out now so if you were to upgrade I'd get one of those unless you can find a 1st gen part for significantly cheaper.

No, system runs well. I was just hoping to try and up frame rate a bit more and was wondering if this would make a difference. Prices have been falling a bit since gen 2s released so I was trying to decide it it's worth it

Wasn't sure if the 1500x could bottleneck a GTX 1060 6gb or not

What resolution/refresh rate is your monitor? Unless you're playing at less than 1080p or reduced settings (or non demanding games), a 1500X shouldn't be holding back a 1060. You could also overclock it if you haven't already.

Playing at 1080p with a 144hz monitor. My framerate is acceptable, I was just trying to look at the potential of improving is all. Trying to decide if it made sense to spend the money. I have been reading on overclocking, but haven't tried yet with a gpu or CPU, it be my first attempt.

What sort of fps are you getting in the games you play? High fps gaming is the one area (1st gen) ryzen struggled a little bit.

Some games like pubg I average around 100, with occasional dips to mid 60s and spikes to 120. Elder scrolls online averages probably 60 - 80 and will dip to as low as 25 in high population areas. Less demanding stuff like rocket League I pull 144.
