Hello

So im using a Ryzen 1600 right now and I game at 1080p 60hz but planning to go to 144hz.
Im using the RX 5700 XT and have been very happy with the combo, my cpu is non oc'd

Now if I want to game in 1440p or 144hz 1080p do I need to upgrade my cpu? Will that be a big difference or insignificant? Like upgrade to a Ryzen 3600

If I just overclock my r5 1600 to 3.8ghz or 3.7ghz isnt it a ryzen 3600 automatically? Because both the cpus have 6 cores 12 threads.
Will I get the 3600 performance with my ryzen 1600 by overclocking it to the clocks of an 3600.

Waiting for an answer
Thanks

If both cpus are 6c/12t it doesn't mean they are the same with different clocks the ryzen 5 1600 is 14 nm while the 3600 is 7 nm, the ryzen 5 1600 have 16 mb l3 cache while ryzen 5 3600 have 32 mb l3 cache

so you can't have 3600 if you overclocked your 1600
but you can buy a monitor if you plan to buy a 1440p the 1600 will do great because 1440p depends on the gpu power more

but if you plan to buy 1080p 144hz and see if you are happy with the performance then don't buy 3600
, but if you want a little more frames get 3600 you won't regret it

btw your 1600 is holding back your 5700 xt a little
Higher resolutions take less CPU, higher refresh rates take more. So, it's give and take.

No, overclocking your 1600 doesn't make it a 3600. The 3600 is an improved process design, as is the 2600. They are faster than the 1600 even at the same clock rates. The 3600 is faster than the 2600, and the 2600 is faster than the 1600.

I say keep your 1600 until the prices drop on the 3600 and/or when the 4600 is released.
