Hello everybody, I was wondering if a ryzen 5 1600 CPU paired with an rx 480 and 16 gb of 2133mhz ram is an optimal option. I ask this because ive read that ryzen CPUS require at least 3000mhz ram in order to work at their full potential. SInce my computer is only used for gaming, and on a 1080p 60 hz monitor, could 2133mhz ram be sufficient?

motherboard: GA-H170-D3HP (currently dead)
CPU: intel i5- 6600k
GPU: rx480 8gb
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B1 80+ BRONZE
RAM: Hyperx DDR4 8gb 2133mhz ram (2 sticks bought separately)
Hard drive: Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD (ST1000DM003)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Black 300R

Yes 2133Mhz is quite adequate for Gaming josuemora111 :)

OC RAM is more for the enthusiast and requires a higher level of Bios skill.

If your looking at what is best for your system then list your system specs and a recommendation will be given based on the level of game play.

Actually, overclocking RAM has been getting more and more important.

Proof.

Hey man, thanks for your response. I'm new to this forum and i think i mistakenly downvoted your comment or something, sorry about that. I'll list my PC components on the main post. My current system has an i5 6600k non overclocked, but unfortunately my mobo died on me. So instead of buying a new z170 board, I'm thinking about selling my i5 and buying a ryzen 5 1600 and an AMD mobo. The main reason I think this is a good idea is because of the extra cores and threads for a cheaper price compared to intel. I mostly played battlefield 1, witcher 3, and rise of the tomb raider before my mobo died. My main intention is to get better performance on battlefield 1 when playing 64 player matches, and if im not mistaken, a ryzen 5 1600 could help me with that.

Well from another video from hardware unboxed it seems that there is only a significant difference with high end GPU's

True.

Hi,

In currently using a ryzen 1600 with a rx Vega 64 and Corsair ddr4 2400mhz. Because ryzen doesn't support 2400mhz it was downclocked to 2133mhz.

I user to average 134.4 fps on league of legends and 123.3 on csgo. (Worse than my old setup with ddr3, gtx 690 and amd fx-9590!)

After overclocking the ram to 2666mhz i get 167+ average fps on csgo and 180+ fps on league!

To think that i was planning to upgrade my cpu or get a 2nd Vega 64....

You should really invest in better Ram, i feel like a fool spending 700$ on a Vega that had less fps than my gtx 690 because of slow ram.
