One more question my motherboard has 8 pin where should i put the 4 pins on the right or the left of the motherboard? The 4-pin header is enough for over 100W, no problem there with a 65W CPU. EPS12 is only a concern for the highest-powered desktop CPUs and aggressive OCs pushing well over 100W through the socket.
Looks like you have very good information sorry I’m asking to many questions but can i buy 4 pin to 8 pin and overclock the cpu or it will be a problem? The connector is keyed and will only fit one way: two pins on the cable have a square key around them, the other two have a tented side, match those with the motherboard.
The rule of thumb for adapters and extensions is to never use them unless absolutely necessary. Using adapters won't magically increase the 4-pin connector and cable's rating but does introduce multiple additional potential points of failure.Looks like you have very good information sorry I’m asking to many questions but can i buy 4 pin to 8 pin and overclock the cpu or it will be a problem?
So I can’t overclock my ryzen 5 2400g with this 4 pin i have to buy new psu ?The rule of thumb for adapters and extensions is to never use them unless absolutely necessary. I once had a 4 pin to 8 pin adapter melt and catch fire..The rule of thumb for adapters and extensions is to never use them unless absolutely necessary. Using adapters won't magically increase the 4-pin connector and cable's rating but does introduce multiple additional potential points of failure.
Shouldn't happen with a properly made ones, but all bets are off with defects. Copper-clad aluminum wires which are common in cheap Chinese stuff can also be problematic.I once had a 4 pin to 8 pin adapter melt and catch fire..
