Urgent help please!

I’m getting a Asus Rog Strix B450-F Gaming motherboard and am wondering if it’s going to be out of the box compatible with my ryzen 5 3400g. With the second version of this board your able to update the bios straight from the motherboard itself but with the first version your unable to do so. I’m wondering if it’s going to be compatible out of the box or if I’m going to need a 2nd gen ryzen cpu to be able to update the bios.

Solution
That depends entirely on the version you will get and the batch from which it came from...

CPUValidated since PCBValidated since BIOSNote
Ryzen 5 3400G (3.7GHz,45-65W,L3:4M,4C)ALL2605

If the board comes from a batch manufactured before BIOS 2605, then it wont be compatible out of the box, else it will.

But that's not a significant issue as there are various workarounds available...

Is there anyway of telling what the BIOS version is like with a sticker on the motherboard or whatever? Or will I need to do a test boot to see if it boots up? I ordered the motherboard from Amazon this morning. Also are the chances of the mother board having a bios version of 2605 high or low?

Ideally there should be some sort of sticker on the box mentioning like Raven Ridge or Picasso/Zen+(3400g) supported. Since this BIOS has been release a long time ago by now, there is maximum chance that you will get the latest BIOS on the board.

Forgot to let you know how everything went the day of, but everything went well. The motherboard box had a Ryzen 3000 Series Ready sticker on it so I was all good and didn't need to update the bios. Once it was all built and setup I updated the bios to the latest version and everything was all good as well. Thanks for your help!
