I will be mostly gaming and doing light 1080p video editing on the side for a YouTube channel i hear the 7700k yields better gaming performance and 1700 is better for editing. I dont really care much for faster render times i just want a smooth editing and gaming experience. Gaming is slightly more important to me than editing and may move to 1440p editing in the future it just depends if i get a better internet connection.

If you want to stream your gaming at all you'll want the R7 1700 for sure. But if not streaming then either would give you a smooth gaming experience as well as editing. RAM and a fast SSD also help with smooth editing.
