Question Ryzen 7 5800x max and low temps are around 80 to 90

got a new ryzen 7 5800x and it idles at 78 C when i strees test its max at 90 C
my thermal paste has 1.9 thermal conductivity is this the problem ( im having a corsair 2 fan aio)

i had the exact same issue, but i fixed it. i had a 5800x using a Noctua CPU Cooler, even on ECO mode it was hitting 78c at idle on desktop. How did i fix it? well it tried cleaning up my pc, cable management, re applying the thermal paste, but barely any difference. Until i found the real...

A 240mm AIO should cool it very well. How old is it? Corsair's older AIO's were known to evaporate cooling liquid out the hoses pretty quickly.

Something to check is whether the pump is working 100% all the time. If running off a motherboard fan header set it's profile for voltage control in BIOS and set it to +12V constantly. You can also make sure by connecting directly to a SATA power connector using an adapter but then you might lose ability to monitor RPM.

Also, check task manager for something that's running when you think the system's idle. Normally, Windows has a bunch of background tasks that do occasionally wake up to do something when the system's idle but they're usually pretty mild applications that hit the CPU pretty lightly, on one or two cores at a time.
