I recently noticed my Ryzen 7800X3D running at extremely high temperatures (90°C–100°C) while idle. On further inspection, I discovered that my AIO cooler (Deepcool LS720) had failed - there was air or dirt or something in the tubes. I never really turned the PC on after that, but recently did so when I needed to retrieve some important files. Despite the high CPU temperatures, and it being quite sluggish, I managed to recover them.
However, just as I was about to shut down the PC, I noticed something unusual - the PC was running much smoother and faster. Checking the temps again, I saw they had dropped to 40°C–50°C at idle, but the CPU frequency was now at its max - 5000MHz. Since then, every time I power on the PC, it runs at ~5000MHz (+/- 100MHz) constantly, which I definitely don’t want. I am guessing the high temperatures and it now running at high frequency is connected.
The AIO cooler supposedly has a 5-year warranty, and after contacting Deepcool, they requested proof of the CPU running at high temperatures. The problem is that the CPU no longer does.... Ideally, I need the system to replicate the overheating issue so I can claim the warranty while also addressing the CPU running at max frequency.
Any advice on how to approach this?
