Backstory

After years of being stuck with an FX 8320 and 4GB DDR3 RAM, I finally bought a new DDR4 Kit:

Ryzen 5 4500
MSI A520M-A PRO
32GB DDR4 3200MHz

But currently, I'm worried with the temps it's showing. I built it myself, applied a good thermal paste. At first, it was idling at 80ºC, but I reapplied the thermal paste and tightened the cooler and it started idling at 37ºC between 44ºC, in the meanwhile, playing Rust or Battlefield 1 on Ultra temps hit a max of 55ºC. All was fine, but today, idle temps are hitting such high temperatures 71ºC - 79ºC, and when I play something it goes to 80ºC - 87ºC. Note: the only difference between today an yesterday is the room temperature. Yesterday it was 32ºC, today is 44ºC.

Should i be worried? Does the room temperature change the CPU temperature that much?

Things i tried/checked

  • I tried reapplying paste and tightening the cooler again, but it made no difference.
  • My power settings are on AMD Enhanced Power Plan (It's not performance), but i also put it on balanced and it made no difference.
  • Tried setting BIOS CPU Cooler Speed to max and it made no difference.

Wow, that is a warm room. I would expect a 12ºC rise in ambient temperature to equate to a 12ºC rise in CPU temperature. If you want lower CPU temperatures consider buying a modern case with intake fans and a tower-style CPU cooler.

Thanks for the response ! Yeah, summer in Brazil hits hard, but I was looking to buy a new case next month, this one i got from my brother when i was 13, that's why i never swapped it for anything else .

Anyways, i don't think room temperature was the problem, just woke up at 5AM and it's 25ºC, here's my temps:

I just find it weird how in 19/01 it was working absolutely fine, no tampering with settings or nothing, temps were constant all day long, but after waking up it suddenly hits me with the 70ºC idle temp. I'll try buying a new case and a new cooler next month, hope it works.

By the way, i dropped the side panel hoping to lower the temps, it also did nothing...

Yes, don't know what local pricing for you is like, but the Thermalright Phantom Spirit tower cooler is my usual recommendation. It's very capable and less than $40 with two fans included.
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll see if it's for sale, but i think they only sell Thermalright Phantom Assassin here.
