I was wondering what the differences are in general between Ryzen CPUs and the FX CPUs and especially the differences between the FX9590 and the Ryzen 5 1500X processors.

I've done some research between the processors:
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-FX-9590-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-1500X/1812vs3921

But I was wondering why the Ryzen 5 CPUs have a better rating but have a substantially lower clock rate, when I usually used to buy processors I would buy them based on clock rate and somewhat on number of cores, so it seems kind of strange some of the Ryzen CPUs would be substantially better. Are there good reasons why or are they just considered better because there newer and take less wattage?

@g-unit We are not choosing dualcore chips for gaming, especially if the op has enough funds to buy a really good quadcore chip.

Inventor the ryzen 1500x will be your best bet, pricewise and valuewise g-unit is right.
Go ahead and make your purchase and then show them off when it arrives at your doorstep.

There's no dual core R5s that I know of.

R5-1400 = quad core
R5-1500X = quad core
R5-1600 = six core
R5-1600X = six core

Where are you getting this information from? Or are you referring to the i3-7350K? :??:

Idk if I can afford a Ryzen 1600 or 1600x. I first thought about getting a 1600x and a cheap motherboard but I've kinda of changed my mind now, I really don't think I will need a 6 core Ryzen and personally I would rather get a 1500x and maybe upgrade later, Idk if I would want to get a i5 when I could get the latest ryzen 5 1500x cpu for about the same price which is much newer and I was also hoping to get a good motherboard and a fast SSD maybe instead of a extream CPU and GPU.

Heh you got a real good steal on the mobo and cpu combo, for that cpu I highly recommend this.

Apply it to amds heatsink fan, long as you don't attempt to OC on the stock heatsink fan it'll hold out 4-6 months at best.

Good luck with your parts.

Nice build. However try to not rush things too fast. in computerbase benchmarks in few games u can see 1500x is 20% faster than fx 8350 using nvidia 1080. with 570 it will be only 10%.

https://www.computerbase.de/2017-04/amd-ryzen-5-test/2/

if i had 6300 and 470 i would be thinking about a choice between 1500X or upgrading to 144hz freesync monitor. BUT if i had nothing i would definietly go for NEW TECH. Ryzen is too good not to buy.

No there shouldn't be just install the drivers that come with the mobo.
http://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1ty%20X370%20Gaming%20K4/index.asp#osW1064

This is what you will want when installing the mobo chipset drivers, lan card, vga.
Stay away from norton securitys, stay away from the app shop too from asrock.

http://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1ty%20X370%20Gaming%20K4/index.asp#BIOS
Put the bios on a fat32 formatted flash drive reboot into bios and follow the instructions.
Some people are weary or scared to do this long as you follow the instructions it takes 1-2 minutes to update.
Check the mobo box and paperwork to see which bios version, if you start out with 1.60.
This will bring you up to the latest bios update from asrock it'll be your choice to do so or not.

When you say stay away from Norton Security are saying that Norton Security will not be compatible with a ryzen cpu or motherboard?

(I was planning on installing Norton Security on my build)

What I mean is don't bother with it, in the long run you will find out when its not doing what its supposed to do.

Those 3 combined with windows 10 firewall with windows defender being on standby will do a far more better job keeping your computer cleaned up and upto date.

I am using it for my intel 4570 haswell build like I did with my amd fx past builds and they do a great job.

Ok, thanks for the info and all your help.

I was wondering if the following memory would work with the X370 motherboard since it only supports 2666MHZ memory anyway and I was looking to save some money.
