Ryzen or Skylake

Hello guys this is my first forum thread
Since im building my first ever pc in less than 1 month I was wondering what cpu to pair with the GTX 1050 ti
Ryzen 5 1400 or i5-6400
Don't give me any other cpu recommendations beacuse I have a strict budget

Since you're strictly tied between these 2 CPUs i would recommend the Ryzen 1400 since their performance is similar/comparable but the Ryzen 1400 has SMT meaning it's 8 threads instead of 4. This can help it edge out in multi-threaded workloads and applications but the Gaming performance between the 2 CPUs seems about on par on average. Another plus would be the ability to OC the Ryzen 1400 if you need/desire to get even more performance out of it. Hope this helps

If you can find an H110 board that definitely has the latest BIOS to support Kaby Lake, the i5 7400 is usually the same price as the 6400 but faster. I don't think you can go wrong either way though.

CS:GO runs fine on a 12 year old Core2Duo. Any modern CPU is massive overkill for that game.

if you are only and ONLY playing CS:GO you wont need an i5 or r5 a cheaper g4560 will do it

i will get the r5 1400 beacuse i will play mostly cs go and sometimes gta 5 and bf1 maybe
