Hey guys,
I just built a system for the first time, thanks to the people of this forum it helped me learn a lot.
I am now trying to overclock and all and have a few questions.
I run a MSI B350 Tomahawk with Ryzen 1600 and GTX 770 4gb and crucial ballistix sport 2400 mhz single 4gb dual rank stick.
1) Is it true that I will bottleneck my cpu if my ram is low speed (its at 2400, 16-16-16-39 rn). Should I buy new ram then and if i need to what speed would you recommend?
2) I am a complete noob in overclocking, but I sped up my ram to 2666 hz. I just went to bios and turned on xmp and chose ddr4 2666 under ram profile. I didn't do anything else, idk if i change voltage correct cuz all i did was just choose 2666. Is that the right way to overclock? I checked cpu-z and it showed 1333 so i guess its right.
3) Do I need a better power supply for just ram overclocking? I tried running 2933 mhz on my ram but my system just didnt reboot at all (I jumped the cmos now its back at 2667)
Thank you guys so much :)

Solution
If it's running at 2666MHz try just adjusting/lowering latency, if you manage to lower it by 2 points, you'd get same performance as at 2933MHz but higher latency.
