[SOLVED] Ryzen5 1600X vs i3 9100f

Going to buy one of the two for my 1060 6gb. They're both going for $100 and I'd like to know which one's better for gaming.

A quad core wont cut much ice in modern CPU intensive games. Go with the 1600x. The extra threads should perform much better in most games.

I would go with the 1600X. While it might not give the same FPS with a high end card, the 1060 6GB will have close performance between the 2 CPUs. Right now 4c/4t is the minimum for AAA titles so longevity of the 1600X with 6c/12t is better than the 4c/4t i3. Also you have the ability to upgrade to the Ryzen 3000 series at a later date assuming the motherboard you choose has a BIOS update for the 3000 series.
