I'm at work now so I'll update later with more info on the build, but specs are:

GPU: 1070Ti
CPU: i5-8600k
RAM: 16 GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus 5 Gaming
OS: Win 10 Pro 64-Bit
System Drive: 970 Evo (did a clean install of windows after buying this and this came after I bought the monitor)

Basically, I bought this monitor brand new from Best Buy on a huge sale. I don't think there's an issue with the monitor itself, (tested it on a friend's PC while I waited for the final parts of my PC to come in), and as soon as he connected it, I could immediately see the difference in how smooth the mouse looked. Fast forward to my PC, and after setting my PC to 144hz and enabling G-Sync (and verifying that it's enabled), I'm just not seeing that same smoothness. The mouse drags along like it's 60fps or less. In video games, it mostly looks the same to me as 60fps. Steam's fps counter and Nvidia's fps counter both say 144, but there are moments where it looks choppy for a couple of seconds. Especially in Rise of the Tomb Raider with the avalanche in the very beginning.

When my friend had it momentarily, Yakuza 0 looked absolutely amazing with no motion blur. I didn't feel the same on my PC but that could just be me. My friend now has a 144hz Viotek monitor and on his new monitor I can still instantly tell the smoothness of the mouse on the desktop. He has the same CPU as me and originally had a 970 (I believe he had this when we first tested my monitor but I could be wrong) and then upgraded to a 1080.

I do notice when viewing web pages and setting it to auto scroll, that it's smoother compared to when I change it back to 60hz. I just want to make sure there's not something I'm doing wrong. The mouse thing doesn't necessarily bother me, but I don't know if those brief moments of choppiness like in Rise of the Tomb Raider are to be expected.

hello. You are in luck, because as it just so happens, I have recently gotten this exact monitor myself and know a couple of things about it's quirks.

First thing's first.
Make sure you are connected to the monitor using a DisplayPort cable. Preferably the one that came with the monitor.

Next, go into the monitor OSD menu and go down to Display then set the response time to normal instead of fast.

next, make sure you are on the latest version of nvidia display drivers.
Then right click your desktop and go to nvidia control panel.

From here, go to the "change resolution" option and make sure it's set to 144Hz at 2560 x 1440

Now, go down to G-Sync and set it to Enable G-Sync for windowed AND full screen mode.

Now, restart your computer and go to this website using your web browser of choice and see if it is working properly.
Note, use either Firefox or Chrome.
Also note, turn close any open programs so that the only thing running on your desktop is the browser.

For measuring your refresh rate in real time with numbers.

P.S. - It's ok if it says warning browser stutter. as long as the UFO is moving smoothly across the screen and as long as the numbers in the measure test are 143 and up then you're good to go.

Also, for the UFO test, it defaults to 960 pixels per second, but to make sure that it's working fine at 1440p you need to change it to 1440 pixels per second for the test

Extra side note.
The mouse movement on your desktop is always going to have that weird after image effect on it. It's just how it operates.
Making sure that the display itself is properly displaying 144hz is what matters.

Make sure that in games you are playing that framerate limiters and vsync are off.
If you are running more than 144hz then bump up the graphic settings to get it to go below 144hz so that G-Sync will do it's thing.

Mouse sensitivity is also a thing, what you want is to make sure it feels smooth enough and that there isn't any screen tearing.

Don't run games like shadow of the tomb raider in borderless/windowed mode, as this game force locks the framerate limiter to 60hz internally and it messes up G-Sync and you get screen tearing when going over 60fps in that game, so play it in full screen mode.

CHEERS DUDE! I just bought the same monitor and was having issues, but I followed your exact steps and everything is butter smooth!!!
