S975XBX2 and Memory timings/voltage problem

I had asked my friend to get me a D975XBX2 from the US. He ended up getting me the S975XBX2 (which is the server variant). Rest of the configuration is in my signature below.

Here is the problem I am having. The Corsair XMS2 (TWIN2X2048-6400C4) memory I have is rated to run at 4-4-4-12 at 800MHz at 2.1v. On this board, I am only able to run it at 5-5-5-18 at 800MHz. Everest shows that my memory is running at 1.8v (DDR default). In the BIOS, there doesn’t seem to be any option to set the voltages.

The reason I wanted the D975XBX2 was mainly for its voltage adjustability, but this is the board I ended up with.
Is there some way for me to set the voltage to 2.1v? The D975XBX2 and the S975XBX2 share the same BIOS and drivers etc. Is there any jumper etc. setting that would allow this.

Anyway, would it better to run the memory at 800MHz 5-5-5-18, or 667 4-4-4-12?

I'm running into similar problems with the D975xbx2, although it does allow me to change the voltage, the memory settings don't seem to 'stick'. I have G Skill PC2-8500 that I can't get to run reliably at 800 much less the 1066 it is rated for. It works fine in my other systems though.

yes you can fix it easy

go into BIOS and go into the section were you can set RAM manual like i did

Corsair will even walk you through it but its simple

you can manualy set the timming like i did and for that ram they recommend

setting 5-5-5-12 1.96V and it fing flys

i have same ram and board so i know what im saying

and it will show up as DDR2-800 in BIOS and in windows and have a 400MHZ timming like it should

yap2much: are you answering me or cbrworm (the Corsair part makes me think it's me)? You have S975XBX2 (not D975XBX2)? If you have the S variant, then how are you able to set the voltage?

I can run the memory at 800MHz 5-5-5-18, or 667MHz 4-4-4-12 with the voltage at 1.9v. If it's not possible to change the voltage on this board, then which of the above settings will give more performance?

if the board supports DDR2-800 and has the options to set manual then those settings are right on the money from CORSAIR

5-5-5-12 1.96V

No lower then 1.8v and no higher 2.1v is the memory limits for working and best is 1.96v for best results and that ram runs best at those timings peroid and thats offical from Corsair who makes the ram
