Hey all,
I just started playing. But when I go near water the the graphics start
flashing and things get worse from there. I used both FSAA enabled and
disabled.Using a Geforce FX5900 w/driver version 61.76. Also tried
67.xx.Couldn't find anything on the Sacred forum. Is this a game bug that
needs patching or a video driver problem? The only patch available through
Ascaron is 133MB and I'm on dial-up. If it needs a patch where can I get the
smallest one that will fix this? Thanks

I don't have a solution for the display trouble, but you should really
consoder downloading this patch. It fixes a large number of bugs, several
of them game-stoppers. If downloading is not an option, you could also get
the Underworld expansion, which includes the patch (the patch is really the
update to the free Plus expansion).

In the German forum, they are describing problems with the video, too,
every now and then. The most often recommended solution is to get a
newer video driver. Maybe you need a better mainboard driver, too, for
the AGP port (might depend on the Windows version)

Obviously the latter. Try the fan drivers from

This is rather an add-on, with two more quests, and bugfixes, as
Michael said. If you like to meet even more dragons, download it! Or
have a friend with DSL do it. But be warned, the Ice elves quest is
time limited and will kick off as soon as you have talked to that
nameless ranger near the Tyr Fasul fortress.

Ah, Information. A property, too valuable these days, to give it away,
just so, at no cost.

I found and installed version 1.5 patch. It's a bit better but not much.
I guess I'll try an older driver since the game isn't that new. My
motherboard drivers are up to date I think. 4.27 for Nforce3.

The game does not fit LCD monitors. You can only set the game to CRT
ratioed resolutions. If you have an LCD or other flat screen monitor,
the game will stretch the graphics.

You need to play the game in "windowed" mode to get the proper
graphics proportions. When I played the game in windowed mode, I
didn't experience any problems with performance.

No.That wasn't the problem. I was getting what's called "texture smearing".
Go near the water and it gets blocky and flickery, then it just smears.
Anyway, I fixed it by going back to an earlier Nvidia driver. 45.23. Good
old 45.23's!!Had to use the same driver for Gothic II. Looks great now.
