I have an Ellipsis 7 (Verizon) with android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) I really don't like this os and would like to root it and install a newer version, maybe ice cream sandwich or kit kat if possible.
My Galaxy S5 has kit kat and I love it.
Is there a safe method that I could use that would allow me to revert back to the old os if I ran into any issues ?
I've never rooted a device but I'm very comfortable with my knowledge of computers and things like that,so if I was able to find some directions or tutorials for my specific device I would be comfortable doing that.
Obviously there's guide all over the internet but I have no way of knowing if they are legit and most of them are not for this tablet.
Of course every one that you find on youtube claims to be "the best/easiest ever" which make me think they are not legit.
I don't want to brick my tablet.

Solution
Not all devices have Kikat. First google for kitkat for your device and then root.
KitKat doesn't requires much requirements. Your device is good to run it.
