I have a GT-730 and was wondering what temps were safe for overclocking. I got a +170 MHz boost on the core and in Unigine Valley temps maxed out around 61 C.

Solution
Anything less than 90*C is safe. I prefer less than 80*C. In all reality, the GPU can handle over 90*C but you wont find anyone recommending that.

You might find that you hit a safe voltage limitation before you hit too high of a temp.

Th maximum safe operating temp of the GT-730 is 98C. It's kind of insignificant tho as the card will throttle much lower than that. You can't reach those temps as the card's built in protection mechanisms throttle the GPU without physically modifying the card and / or creating an alternate BIOS.

The 980 Ti and 980 begin throttling at 85C; the 970, which has a higher maximum temperature limit , has an artificially lowered throttling point of 80C so as to keep it from competing too closely performance wise with those two cards.

There is absolutely no concern about the cards reaching their throttling point other than the potential for reduced performance due to the automatic downclocking. Some review sites test and publish at what point throttling occurs; however, they usually don't test cards much below the *60s.
