Safe to sit a Hard Disk on anti-static foam inside the case?

Hello all, this is my first post here.

I was moving my old GTX275/CPU/Motherboard/Ram into my wifes PC after an upgrade, and realized that the GTX 275 wouldn't fit without the Hard drive chassis area being in the way. Having no skill at cutting or what not, I just bent the hard drive chassis so the GTX would fit. This left me without any options for screw mounting the drive.

I then cut out a piece of anti-static foam to exactly match the shape of the SATA 3.5 drive and cut the inside and bottom of it out for cooling and sat the drive on it in the DVD chassis area. So no metal is touching any metal, but it's not screwed in.

Everything seems to be working fine but I am just wondering is there any longtime damage that can result from this, i.e the little metal solderings touching the anti-static foam or maybe heat issues?

Thanks!!!

$50 should get you a nice simple new case with appropriate room to mount things properly. and some even come in non-black colors which she might like. like white, orange, blue, green, etc. even if it's just basic black, at least stuff will be held in place properly. who knows, 17 months from now you might forget that the HDD isn't bolted in place - or your wife might not remember it next week - and if the PC gets moved stuff will fall and break.

Those adapters look like a good idea. I really should do that, I noticed after a few hours of using her PC I touched the Hard drive and it was so hot I could barely keep my fingers on it.

Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate it!
