Same Brand, Same Model, Same Timing, Same Freq, Same Volt, Different size?

I bought g.skill sniper 2x4gb 8gb as a starter for my system build. after i was done with my build i order the 2x8gb16gb same brand model and speed timings voltages etc. Can i add it to my 16gb giving me 24gb just for the hell of it or is it a nono?
 
If your motherboard supports dual channel RAM I think by using mixed sizes it will only operate in single channel but wait for someone to confirm.


Chances are it will work but RAM not bought as a matched set is not guaranteed to work, it usually does work but a small chance it won't.
 
If the modules can work together in the same system, they will run in dual channel. If they can not work together simultaneously, then the system will not boot up or it is very unstable. Single channel is only is you have the modules in one channel A1 A2 or B1 B2, or if you only have one module installed.
