Same Brand, Speed, Latency, but different size, will dual channel still work?

Hi so I was wondering if I can pair these 2 sticks, and still have dual channel capability

you need to buy a kit of two exact same sticks .

^not strictly correct.

You might get them to work together.
You might get to use the first 4Gb of the 8GB stick in dual channel.
But they might not work at all.

DDR3 and DDR4 are much more picky than DDR2 was so a 'kit' is by far the best way to go.

I disagree with DDR3 and DDR4 being more picky than DDR2, it's quite opposite.
