Question Same RAM different CAS Latency

Currently I have a Kingston Hyper X Fury 8GB 2133 mhz RAM CL14 and want to upgrade to 16GB however the ram I have no longer is on sale on my country but there is a Hyper X Fury with 2400 mhz CL15. Can I add this RAM to my system and lower the latency? I've never done any overclocking or even changed BIOS settings.

MB: MSI B150 Gaming M3 (2133mhz)
CPU: i5 6600K
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

If ram module has profile which it can match 2133 automatically then there's a chance. Knowing ram profiles isn't apparent until run a diagnostic program. So there is a risk.

Can try force memory manually if it don't work but no guarantees.

You can make any combinations you want. It is just that memory manufacturers don't guarantee such combinations to be compatible together.

Memory is guaranteed in the form sold. Other combinations you decide to make have no guarantees.

A perennial question.
Here is my stock answer:

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
The internal workings are designed for the capacity of the kit.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards, can be very sensitive to this.
This is more difficult when more sticks are involved.

If you do buy more disparate sticks, they should be the same speed, voltage and cas numbers.
Even then your chances of working are less than 100%
I might guess 90% success for intel and less for amd.

What is your plan "B" if the new stick/s do not work?

If you want 16gb, my suggestion if you have an intel motherboard is to buy a 2 x 8gb kit that matches your current specs.
Then, try adding in your old 8gb,
If it works, good; you now have extra ram.
If not, sell the old ram or keep it as a spare.
