Samsung 840 Evo vs Intel 335 vs Crucial MX100.

I'm wanting to get a SSD for my laptop. Originally I was going to get the crucial 256gb MX100, but then I saw the Intel 335 240gb for $99.97 on Tigerdirect, and figured it had to be better than the Mx100. Then I saw on Amazon the Samsung 840 Evo for $135, and I know it is highly recommended as a above average SSD. I rather just spend the $100 on the intel, but if the Crucial or the Samsung would be a major upgrade I will pay the extra for one of those. I plan to use the computer I will put it in for gaming, schoolwork, a bit of game recording, and I casually use adobe photoshop, after effects, and premiere pro.

i don't know much about ssd's, but i know that you can overclock something in the intel, and Samsung ssd's are very good, like my 840 series my computer boots in 9 seconds. but you don't really need fast ssd's for any of the things you listed. using adobe software: mostly depends on the graphics card, you usually don't even need one for those programs. gaming: also runs mostly from the graphics card and sometimes the cpu. schoolwork: you don't really need anything for that. game recording: I'm pretty sure that relies on the amount of RAM you have and maybe the cpu. also what games do you think you would use.

First thing you should consider is what laptop you have. Do you know if it has SATA II or III? If it doesn't have III then it really doesn't matter which one you get since they will all be capped at about the same speed (3 Gb/s). Basically, you'll never see the max read speeds on any of them so there would be no reason to buy the fastest one.

SATA 3 isnt much faster unless your ssd can transfer at 6 GB/s

SATA III = 6.0 gigabits/sec. = 750 megabytes/sec.
SATA II = 3.0 gbps = 375 MB/s

The 3 drives he listed can all do 500 MB/s and the Samsung 840 Evo can do 540 MB/s sequential read. If you use them on a SATA II port, they will all be capped at 375 MB/s.
