Hello!

I just bought the Samsung 931C. It seems to be a nice monitor, but i'm not too happy about it yet. The colors in my EIZO CRT 19" monitor seemed more 'real' and better.. 🙁

Some things:

- Why does my AUTO button not work? It always tells me 'Autoadjust is not available'
- Does anyone have a nice color setting? My color in games like warcraft are pretty good, while it's not really great in counterstrike source.. There's just too many settings to edit!

Shouldn't this New 320 euros Samsung Syncmaster 931C be better than my EIZO from like, 2000? :>

Could anyone that also has the 931c perhaps share his experiences with this LCD and give me some tips?

Any help is appreciated :)
Thanks in advance.

1. You probably need to calibrate your color settings. However, the 931C has a TN panel (gamer's speed delight, you know), and color fidelity is sacrificed for speed in ALL TN panels. Also, Eizo is a tough comparison... they have always been one of the best.

2. Let me guess... you are using the DVI connection? MANY LCD monitors lose various settings (including the Auto Adjust) when using DVI.

3. The 931C has MagicTune and MagicBrite3.... there are 6 preset configurations + "custom". Did you try all of those presets to see if one is to your liking?

Thanks for the quick response.

1. Alright.

2. Yes, i am FORCED to use a DVI connection.. I use a 7900 GTX, which has 2 DVI's. Got any ideas on how to by-pass that?

3. Ofcourse I have! I use the Gamer's preset configuration, as i am a gamer 😉 But still, the color didn't really satisfy.

My friend has a calibrate thingie with software, and he'll calibrate my screen in the weekend. Maybe that'll help to get the best color performance?

1. There is a DVI-VGA adapter, about $8 at Radio Shack or CompUSA. You might try one of those then connect with your VGA cable.

2. Yes, color calibration and hope for the best. Many monitors come with their own calibration software, though I have difficulty getting what I want from them. Also, Display Mate has a 3rd party one you could buy (about $70, I think)... and then there are hardware colorimeters... much more expensive... like $300-$350.

1. I got 2 of those, they came with my 7900 GTX. I'll try that soon :)

I think there is a lot of interest in the 931C. Please post updates on how you fare.....

I used a DVI->VGA converter, and I can now use the 'Auto adjust' button! :)

Color settings: 56 red , 48 green , 42 blue. Seems the best for now.
I'm also using the 'Color Innovation' on Brilliant and the ' Color Level ' on Mode 1. The pre-set configuration i use is Gaming. Seems good so far, but I have to test some games with it ( WoW, CSS, CoD2, watch some movies, look at various sites etc.). I'll post the results later.

Conclusion so far: Analog seems better than Digital so far.
