I recently got a 500gb NVME SSD 960 EVO M.2 . I guess i didnt do enuff homework. i thought that by using a PCIe adapter i could drop it in my Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3HP PCIe 3.0 slot. well Ive done that and did a fresh install on the drive and my bios just doesnt see it. i boot into windows and the device manager sees it as well as Macrium. i installed the software and drivers from Samsung as well.
Is there anything im missing? is it just impossible to run on this board?

You can not boot from NVMe drive on your system.
you can overcome this by installing the boot loader (be it windows or linux one) on any other HDD/SSD in your system or an USB drive.
The BIOS will initialize the disk with the boot loader and it will load the OS from NVMe drive. from that point you are basically working from the NVMe drive.
If you have no other storage in your system, you will have to leave the USB stick permanently connected to the computer.

This looks like it should work with a little tinkering. Ill try it and keep you posted.
