[SOLVED] Samsung 970 EVO not as much storage as advertised

Hello everyone, I just bought the Samsung 970 Evo NVMe M.2 SSD for my laptop. The box says it is 500 GB of storage, but when I set it up, only 465 GB were available. Why does this happen? Should I uninstall the SSD? 35 GB is a lot of storage to just not be accessible!

My laptop specs:

MSI GS65 8RE
>Intel Core i7-8750H
>GTX 1060 6GB Max-Q
>2 x 8 GB 2400 Mhz RAM

It happens because formatted values are different than RAW values.
Totally normal , has always been this way.

Those are standard/normal amounts of storage for a 500 GB drive; as 1000 MB is not truly a Gigabyte (which is a 1024 derivative), amounts will always seem a bit short, which has been the case even since the 90's when manufacturers started calling 1000 MB a gigabyte, when really 1024 MB was required, etc....

ANyway, '500 GB' is always 465 GB of formatted storage when all is said and done...

You've lost exactly zero drive space.

That is absolutely normal and to be expected.
It is not a matter of 'formatting', but rather a difference in reporting units.
