Just updated the firmware on 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus to latest("2B2QEXM7" BIOS) using Samsung Magician software.. hoping it might improve the overall performance slightly.

Ran CrystalDiskMark 6 after updating firmware, but now I seem to get slower much results.. :(
Here are the scores:

(far left = before firmware update, other 3 = after update)

Seq Q32T1 results are same, but 4KiB Q8T8 Read and 4KiB Q32T1 Read/Write scores are ~50% slower.
And other results are also 7%-28% slower.

I only have one result saved from before update but I know that is the correct result(before the update) cos I ran it few times and always got similar score. So I don't understand why there seem to be noticeable difference after the firmware update. ???

This is my score on Samsung Magician (after the firmware update)

I bought the SSD ~3-4 months ago, and it came with "1B2QEXM7" BIOS.

And you will never notice any of those differences in real world performance. If your data is more secure, because they corrected a data corruption that was timing related is that an acceptable trade-off? I don't know what was changed or why but a few percent change in performance will never be noticed.

Thanks for the input kanewolf, and I hope you are right.

But I haven't noticed ANY stability issue before the firmware update, and ~50% speed loss on few results( 4KiB Q8T8 Read, 4KiB Q32T1 Read/Write) seem quite significant.. at least on paper.
